I am constantly amazed by what I learn as I keep in contact with the various communities that make up our Pagan/Heathen communities. For instance I was not aware that the Northern tribes had their own marital arts until I found out about it from Vincent's background material. While our Modern Pagans have have restarted worship of the old gods and goddesses, many may worship several gods or goddesses, sometimes different ones of different situations. Some may mix gods and goddesses from different cultures and pantheons.

But some choose to stay within a single culture and some even specialize in a single goddess or god. Often they choose to research as much information about their deity and about how such a deity was worshipped, at least as far as information is available. How would that differ from some of the rest of modern Paganism?

In October this year a 77-year-old woman accused of witchcraft was burned to death in Needs Camp near East London. [1] Three other family members were forced to flee their own community for fear of being attacked as well. Also in October, a 60 year old Nepalese woman, Somani Devi Sardar, was forced to eat human excreta for allegedly practicing witchcraft. [2] In Uganda two families in Mubende and Mityana district were attacked and driven from their homes after being accused of practicing witchcraft. [3]

I first met Mike Nichols in 1997. He was asked by my High Priestess and teacher, Lady Shyra, if he could come in and speak. He agreed. I met him and spoke with him. I was awed by his knowledge and his down- to-earth attitude. I searched the BBS’s and PodsNet (before the internet boom) and found and read everything he wrote. (I still have all those papers.)
