Christopher Blackwell, Newsletter Editor

Christopher has been a Wiccan for a bit over twenty-three years, twenty-two of them initiated in the Alexandrian Tradition. He has lived out in the desert most of the time, only rarely having a chance to meet with other Wiccans. Getting and staying in contact with the community was his first priority. Over the years this has been done by snail mail, Wiccan publications and later by of the Internet.

From the very beginning he has taken part in various mail protests and action on Wiccan and Pagan issues starting with Senator Jesse Helms attempt to put a rider on the postal budget bill that would deny any group of Satanist or Witches the same bulk mail rates allowed to other nonprofit groups.,. It had seemed to sure winner with Helms feeling there was no way any senator under Religious Right pressure would dare to stand against the rider

It was the stunning success of that action by Wiccans that caused the rider to be dropped before it even got out of committee. Mail poured in from all over against it. This was back in a pre Internet world depending on post cards and letters to rouse the community. That successful action of the Pagan community impressed Christopher enough to to keep him active ever since.

With his introduction to the Internet, Christopher soon was able to keep in touch with more Pagan and other organizations, taking part in various forms of networking. His years of letter writing led to short articles in the Pagan media and led eventually a chance to put together the newsletter for AREN. Since its beginning, he has been fortunate enough to find others to help him improve its quality as he learned. The newsletter remains a team effort
